The Container Gallery is a new addition to Thirsk Hall Sculpture Garden, the space adds a bold, contemporary edge to the historic grounds of Thirsk Hall. On display currently is Divan Bed by acclaimed artist Mona Hatoum.
Divan Bed is a juxtaposition between comfort and pain, transforming an object typically associated with rest and security into something unsettling and confrontational. Crafted from patinated steel floor plate, the bed’s surface is embedded with sharp, industrial textures that evoke a sense of danger and discomfort.
