Through his exploration of imagined landscapes, trees, and architectural constructions, the works of Tony Bevan (b. 1951) play with light and shadow and are dynamic, emotive reflections of both Bevan’s individual psyche and the elemental structures around us at all times. There is a physicality in his more abstract compositions that echo his figurative paintings of the 1980s, and which resulted in comparisons between Bevan with his predecessors Francis Bacon and Frank Auerbach.
Bevan’s
