This Chalk drawing of the two figures is one of the pieces Wright produced while he was in Venice on a British Council travel scholarship. It was on this same trip he discovered the news that his sculpture The Argument, had won the Richardo Xavier da Silveria Acquisition Prize at the 1957 São Paulo Biennale, beating other artists including Kenneth Armitage, Lynn Chadwick, Bernard Meadows and Reg Butler.
Wright’s
works are on display in public collections including University of Leeds Libraries,
Leeds; The University of York, York.
