Woman Waking Up (a different cast) was shown in Caro’s first solo show in Milan at The Galleria del Naviglio in 1956, where he exhibited some twenty sculptures and a number of drawings. In the same year Caro met Clement Greenberg, in 1959, the Tate Gallery acquired Woman Waking Up with backing from Henry Moore who was at that time on the committee. Another cast is held in the Arts Council Collection, London.
