‘Etchings of Thirsk Hall’ by Norman Ackroyd RA
As part of the Thirsk Hall Sculpture Park exhibition with Michael Lyons; we’ve teamed up with the Zillah Bell Gallery to show a small selection of ‘Etchings of Thirsk Hall’ by Norman Ackroyd RA. Norman has been a regular guest at Thirsk Hall for over 25 years during which he has made many drawings, watercolours and etchings of a setting he loves. The exhibition consists of some etchings available to buy and some of the Bell's private collection.
Considered one of today’s foremost landscape artists, Norman Ackroyd was born in Leeds, attending Leeds College of Art and the Royal College of Art. He was elected to the Royal Academy in 1988 and awarded the CBE in 2007. His work is held in most of the world’s major collections including the National Galleries of the USA, England, Scotland, Canada, Norway and South Africa. Other collections include the British Museum, the Museum of Modern Art (New York), the Rijksmuseum, Tate Gallery and the Royal Collection.
The Zillah Bell Gallery is a two-minute walk from Thirsk Hall Sculpture Park and it holds a substantial archive of his work which you are welcome to view. The gallery is open Monday - Saturday from 10am - 5pm.
